Bio Nebraska and Nebraska Cures are proud to announce the relaunch and expansion of the Nebraska Women in STEM Awards, recognizing the outstanding contributions of women across Nebraska who are advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through leadership, innovation, education, research, and community impact.
Previously featuring two awards, the program has expanded to six award categories in an effort to recognize a broader range of experiences, career stages, and contributions within STEM fields. The awards will now be presented during the Celebrating Women in STEM Luncheon on October 29, creating a dedicated opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments and stories of this year’s honorees.
The 2026 Nebraska Women in STEM Awards categories include:
- Outstanding Woman in STEM
- Organizational Excellence
- Emerging Leader
- Innovator
- Educator of the Year
- Community Impact
“Nebraska is home to extraordinary women making an impact across STEM fields every day,” said Amanda McGill Johnson, Executive Director of Nebraska Cures. “By expanding these awards, we hope to recognize the many different ways women contribute to STEM in our state and ensure more women have the opportunity to be celebrated for their work and leadership.”
Nominations officially open on May 28 and will remain open through July 10, 2026. Nebraska Women in STEM encourages nominations from across industries, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and communities throughout the state.
Nominees may include professionals at any stage of their careers, educators, researchers, innovators, mentors, advocates, and emerging leaders whose work is helping shape the future of STEM in Nebraska.
Award recipients will be recognized at the Nebraska Women in STEM Luncheon on October 29, 2026, at the Durham Museum in Omaha.
