Overview

The Nebraska Women in STEM Growing Leaders Offering Wisdom (GLOW) helps women discover and define who they are as leaders. Centered on personal leadership identity and strength-based development, the 8-month program guides participants in building the confidence, clarity, and practical skills needed to lead authentically in STEM fields. Through shared learning, mentorship, and community, women emerge with a stronger sense of self, greater leadership capacity, and a powerful network of peers committed to advancing one another.

Structure

GLOW is designed for early to mid-career women in STEM who are ready to grow their leadership presence and expand their professional community. Each month features engaging presentations that introduce key leadership themes. These sessions are followed by mentorship circles led by mid to late career leaders who serve as experienced guides.

Mentorship circles bring together one mentor and a small cohort of participants. This model supports collaborative learning, offers access to real-world insights from mentors, and creates space for peer-to-peer connection, shared problem solving, and collective growth. Over the course of the program, participants deepen their skills, broaden their perspectives, and build lasting professional relationships.

Participants will leave the program with:

  • A supportive network of peers and mentors committed to long-term growth
  • A clear understanding of their personal leadership style and strengths
  • Increased confidence in decision-making, communication, and leading others
  • Practical skills for leading and supporting others
  • Strategies for navigating challenges as women in STEM fields
